Policies

Although focussed on the very real issues of the Middle East, Micah68 wishes to do its work in an ethical framework, with an understanding of what it means to live in a wider world.

Ethical banking: Micah68 has deliberately opened a bank account with The Co-operative Bank (www.co-operativebank.co.uk) because of its declared ethical stance. Outlined in its customer led Ethical Banking policy, the bank takes a positive stance on human rights, international development, animal welfare, ecological impact and social enterprise. It has a Social Banking Unit dedicated to helping organisations committed to making an impact by creating social, economic and environmental change.

Carbon offsetting: Understanding that all of our travel has an ecological impact, Micah68 has a policy in relation to any air travel taken by Ian. The carbon footprint for each air flight taken on behalf of the organisation will be offset, and a donation made to The Woodland Trust (www.woodlandtrust.org.uk). Any travelling friends or Micah68 supporters will be encouraged to join in this offsetting policy.

Green materials: Extending its ecological concerns, wherever possible Micah68 will use sustainably produced and recycled materials, especially in relation to office stationery and publicity materials.

Fairtrade: Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for workers. Micah68 will be supporting and promoting organisations and partners in the Middle East who trade fairly.
